hydros®SAFETY

The new hydros®SAFETY technology exchanges cast-iron and asbestos cement pipelines for new PE pipes pref-erably from ND 100 through ND 300.

This technology works according to the pipe bursting or cracking principle. However, with the hydros®SAFETY technology the new product pipes never come into contact with the shards of the old pipe - a crucial quality edge over the pipe bursting system.
When bearing against the new PE pipe, these cast-iron shards produce point loads which in the medium term lead to craz-ing. These crazes frequently do not occur until five to twelve years later so that on final acceptance they are not identified as malfeasance.
Furthermore, the sharp-edged cast-iron shards damage the outer pipe surface by producing grooves which are also often not identified but result in pipe failure.

The hydros®SAFETY technology prevents contact of the new pipe with the cast-iron shards by applying a thixotrope protection layer (d ³ 18mm) uniformly around the new pipe.
In order to avoid that this protective fluid flows into any cavities, fabric is wrapped around the new pipe which acts as a cas-ing for the "filler mortar". The filler mortar and the fabric are gas and water permeable ensuring that failures of any kind can be located directly and accurately. This would be impossible if conventional protective pipes were used in which the new product pipes are installed.

The hydros®SAFETY technology is currently applicable for individual lengths up to 100 m. In the course of this year, 150 m shall be realized.

The diameter can be increased at least by one size. Prior to the exchange, service connections must be cut off from the pipe. Fittings, valves, and elbows must also be removed.
