For rehabilitation of gas services |
|
|
The starline® 200 technology is a newly developed rehabilitation procedure for services in gas distribution systems using a fabric hose that is coated with a plastic material. Services with a diameter of DN (nominal diameter) 20 to DN 50 and lengths up to 60 m can be rehabilitated using this fabric hose procedure. The crucial advantage of this procedure is that up to 5 bends or 90° elbows can be relined uniformly and almost wrinkle-free.
This is made possible by a newly designed hose system. Due to a special weave of the hose and a new coating technology, the physical parameters of the fabric hose can be adjusted such that the elbows and bends can be lined uniformly. So far, no known technology for the rehabilitation of services was able to negotiate bends and 90° elbows without wrinkles.

Wrinkles would extremely reduce the pipeline diameter such that the transport capacity of the services would be no longer sufficient.
For rehabilitation of services, the fabric hose is filled with sufficient adhesive. It is then inserted into the pipeline to be rehabilitated in an inversion process by applying compressed air and using a very light hand pressure drum. The fabric hose uniformly bonds to the pipeline to be rehabilitated. Due to the uniform bonding system made possible by a special cleaning technology, gas migration is made impossible and bonding of end pieces or sealing of end caps is no longer necessary. The operating pressure of a service relined with starline® 200 technology can be up to 4 bar. The rehabilitation process can be organized such that one crew can reline 3 and more services per day. This means that the customer is resupplied with gas within a few hours. The customer's disconnection from the gas supply is reduced to a minimum so that there is no need for expensive compensation supplies. The starline® 200 technology is a particularly economical, fast, and safe procedure for rehabilitation of services. The life of a relined pipeline is certainly as long as that of a new PE-HD pipe. If there is sufficient interest, Group of KARL WEISS will be very happy to modify this technology for drinking water applications. |
